Who this protocol is for

Adults 35โ€“55 (men and women) who want to preserve or rebuild muscle mass, maintain strength, and slow the physical decline that begins in the fourth decade. You train, or used to. You are noticing the gap between what your body can do and what you want it to do.

The core problem with most approaches

Step 1 โ€” Measure your baseline

Before changing anything, get a data point. You cannot track progress without a starting measurement.

Men's hormone panel

Total testosterone + Free T + SHBG + DHEA-S
Foundational. Low SHBG with normal total T often means lower free T โ€” the bioactive form. DHEA-S declines with age and is worth tracking.

LH + FSH + Estradiol
LH and FSH tell you whether low T is primary (testicular) or secondary (pituitary). Estradiol matters for men โ€” too high or too low affects muscle and mood.

Full metabolic and inflammation baseline. Don't skip ApoB โ€” it's a better cardiovascular risk marker than LDL-C.

Women's hormone panel

Estradiol directly supports muscle protein synthesis. FSH trending up + estradiol trending down = hormonal transition. Test on day 3 of cycle if still cycling.

Often overlooked in women. Affects muscle, libido, energy, and mood. DHEA-S is the precursor hormone โ€” worth tracking as it declines with age.

Rerun the same labs at 90 days. Compare: hormone trends, body composition (if DEXA available), performance markers (lift numbers, grip strength, walking pace). The data tells you whether the protocol is working โ€” and whether to adjust.
